I went and saw Storm Surfers 3D last night. It is truly breathtaking. I promise you that at some point during the movie you will reach out your hand toward the screen to try and touch the wall of a wave.
The 3D technology deployed by the filmmakers to make the movie is fascinating. The Australian television show, Catalyst, did a segment on the clever solutions that the filmmakers invented to overcome the challenges of taking 3D cameras out into the daunting environment of storm swells. The segment is about 12 minutes long and starts with a fabulous, succinct explanation of basic 3D theory.
I saw the film at the Rafael Film Center which is the best theater to catch indie flicks in Northern California.
